Well dear friends, we are coming up on the one year anniversary of the failure of the levee system in New Orleans. Alot has happened in the past year; and alot has not. A few days ago, the head of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, who in June admitted that design flaws in the levees his agency built to protect New Orleans caused most of the flooding during Hurricane Katrina, was asked to retire. Some money has been approved by Congress for disaster relief and levee repair in New Orleans but it seems most of it is still tied up in inept bureacracy. The Lower 9th Ward still lies in ruins and many people are still waiting for the arrival of their FEMA trailers -or to add insult to injury, are waiting for electricity to power their trailer. The foreclosures have begun and the insurance companies, which made record profits in 2005, still delay and shortchange insureds at too often a juncture. The politicians are throwing stones or looking for photo ops while New Orleans slowly bleeds.
It is my belief that the "Make Levees
Not War" slogan is one with alot of mileage left in it- one that will endure and outlive the lampoons and fads of the moment so long as New Orleans needs better and stronger levees and the powers-that-be perpetuate endless Orwellian war, squandering our hard earned resources.
We have raised a decent amount of money for the New Orleans Musicians Hurricane Relief Fund but we still have shirts available. For those of you that have not visited us since October, we have added quite a few different colors, sizes and styles. Have a look~
Reboot Tees made quite a splash at JazzFest this year!
We added a Mardi Gras themed " Make Levees Not War" tee shirt in purple gold and green during Mardi Gras this year.

We added the chocolate melange/brown neck gym T and an all cotton black tee:

We have also added a Fleece track jacket and pants. Our prices are actually less than the retail prices of these same items without the printing!!!

We even added a myspace account. Shucks everyone is doing it.
And of course the ever popular original shirt:

Please feel free to foward this newsletter to whomever you think might be interested and thank you for your support and love of New Orleans.
Peace,
Alec Phoenix
